Michelle Ohlsson originally hails from Northern Ontario, but now divides her time between Black Creek, British Columbia, Canada and Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

While she dabbled with painting in her twenties, it wasn't until retirement that Michelle found the time to develop her hobby into a craft. Her teachers, Chris Wotton in Campbell River and Marsha Dahlquist in Todos Santos guided her through this transition and she continues to work with them.
​
The natural environment is a continuous source of inspiration for Michelle, in particular the stunning beauty of Vancouver Island and Baja California Sur.
